Brighter Future

Edith is a single parent who provides full time care for her son who has cerebral palsy.  She fell into arrears on her mortgage to the value of £800.

Thanks to DHA's close partnership working with South Derbyshire District Council the housing team were able to discuss the case with the relevant officers, who agreed to make a payment to clear the arrears.  This expenditure was justified under their Spend to Save budget, as the payment was less than would have been paid out for bed and breakfast and re-housing. 

It also caused less disruption and emotional distress to Edith, who is relieved to have cleared her debt and is looking forward to a clean start.
